Dear members and friends of the DEF,
for sure it had been the worldwide depressing events of last year and the uncertainty how things would develop further, for sure was it the unexpected decision in Great Britain for a Brexit and the difficult question what this could mean for the European Union, for the relationship between Great Britain and the mainland and last but not least for the DEF and the NKFC, which influcened the words of welcome in a negative way for the New Year.
However, as chairman of the DEF I want to convey a hopeful message and make clear, that the DEF will still follow its founding principles and its constitution and feels obliged to a personal peaceful life together between Germans and Brits, Karlsruhe and Nottingham.
Just let us in this sense also shape the year 2017 together.
Also this year the DEF wants to offer its members and friends a versatile and interesting programm. Some of the events already have fixed dates, but we still need to work out the details. For others we are still in discussions with the people in charge. However, we will keep on updating our webpage, so it is always worthwhile to check it out! Most of our events will be held in English, because our common goal is to promote the pleasure of practising English. Most of the offers will be free of charge, registrations on participation (which should be binding) are helpful for a sucessful organisation. Everybody is welcome! We always look forward to your ideas, comments and also suggestions for further arrangments. I wish us all many happy get-togethers.
